I really doubt it was Priest's decision. Most likely it was Columbia, who own the rights to the original SFV recordings.

This video isn't bad if not for the first 20 seconds. The rest of it is good ol' cheesy Priest.

Schaffer is actually IE's rhythm, not lead, but he might as well start calling himself lead. his riffs stand out much more than the "lead"s riffs, if you even want to call it that. at least they do in IE, I dunno about D&W. but yeah, schaffer is rhythm usually, not lead unless the album/single do...
