Playing with the Madness of Science from the Lab of Dr. Morbius

What is it that we love about the mad scientists within the various Hollywood movies or within history itself? Is it because their probing of the unknown piques our curiosity? Is it their seeming superiority to the common herd? Or is it that they -- at least for a while -- get away with more than we can as a society? Who are these men of science that we tend to follow?? What can we learn from them???
Some of them are practical, with the common goal to find better things for the human race. Others are decidedly less practical, or even DEADLY. One of their most prominent technologies has been advanced medicine. To truly understand them, we need to look towards popular culture and the art of film. Filmic mad scientists of the 1930s and 1940s led the vanguard in such efforts as keeping organs alive outside the body, cryogenics, new methods of surgery, robotic parts for humans, and new serums. All the elements of the great horror films that we've all grown to love. Others harnessed electricity for all sorts of uses, but mostly to bring dead flesh back to life (Frankenstein, must we say more), or to power advanced robots and death rays. Lastly, let us not forget the wonderful experimental "animal" creations of the great Dr. Moreau. Only as an example, of course!!

As an objective fact, their films have been hotbeds of fortean technology, introducing then-taboo ideas, preparing audiences for technological development in a world in which moral and scientific values would change and old taboos would be discarded. Hence, these "mad men" have always been ahead of their time.. These horror movies render such taboo topics psychologically "safe" by making the inventions those of "madmen." Furthermore, allowing us as an audience, to cheer these Mad Scientist on, while still being able to look ourselves in the mirror.. Let's face it, we love the Mad Scientist!!

Through extensive research, we have been able to locate the private diary of Professor Morbius. This great man of science is going to being you, for your viewing pleasure, lessons that he has documented within this diary. These lessons are all regarding his great wisdom on classic film history. The history of horror films that is!!
