The Hurricane Fist school name comes from the three Chinese characters Ju (颶), Feng (風), and Chuan (拳). JuFeng literally means Typhoon or Hurricane as they are known in the Western Hemisphere and Chuan means Fist or Martial Art Style. The (Tai-ping Reign-period Imperial Encyclopaedia, 977AD) says "Ju is a wind [or storm] that comes in all four directions. Another meaning for jufeng is that it is a scary wind. Through training a combination of internal and external Southern Kung Fu styles Hurricane Martial Arts aims to provide a comprehensive martial art experience. Our primary focus are the different branches of Southern Praying Mantis and Chen family Tai Chi. Some of the guiding principles of Hurricane Fist training is strong internal power, a deep root, external conditioning, and breath power.
