I'm one of those guys who struggled at various jobs until I realized that I wasn't truly using the gift I was born with: the ability to make people laugh. I've made a living writing and performing comedy ever since, and am happiest when I'm on a stage making 2,000 people howl 'til they hurt. I was born and raised in Mississippi and am the only guy on my street in L.A. who can fix appliances, build a porch, and catch, dress and prepare squirrel for gumbo.

I've made a living as half the standup comedy team Mack & Jamie since 1980 (www.mackandjamie.com) and we still perform. Since 2000 I've been doing solo comedic motivational speaking and travel all over the country doing that.

I like to design and build things, built a huge back porch and a backyard office. Built a thing for my artist wife to store canvases on, and a Canadian company, Copernicus Educational Products, bought the idea and manufactures it.
