MY PRESENT BACKGROUND PICTURE
... is a photo that was taken two weeks ago ... behind the entrance gate to my home !
I'm not smiling ... very intentionally ... don't feel like it at all to depict my angry feeling ... with You Tube !
I CALL IT : FORCED AND CURSED ISOLATION !
1st March 12.

LA MIA DOLCE VITA ... when in ENGLAND !!!
I spent a full week there in July, nicely welcomed ...
... with some new warm memories on my mind !!!
And I have a very good memory of all my past holidays ...
... year after year ...

A friendly Hello to Big Ben I Iove is MY MUST each time I am in London !!!
... and even to ... Admiral Nelson ... on Trafalgar Square !!!
I like everything I've seen there :
National Portrait Gallery with Fantastic Tudor Galleries,
( fascinated by this period of the history of England ) and a sumptuous Royal frame & painting of Elizabeth I on her Coronation Day.
Up St Paul's ... outside gallery to take pictures on a clear day.
The Royal Mews with stunning carriages !
Tower Bridge ... outside and inside.
... and a moving and most interesting exhibition at Wellcome Collection ... until August 2009 :
Bobby Baker's Diary Drawings, the lengthy and courageous struggle of a female artist ... more than ten years to recover mental health. Amazing collection of Painfully expressive drawings, I've loved this exhibition !
Cartoon Museum ... a bit disappointing ... but amusing fierce satirical cartoons and people's remarks left about Maggie !
... and of course, as Art colours and surprises Life ... stunning and colourful works of art at the Saatchi Gallery !

... and then ... remain ... sweet memories !!!

La DOLCE VITA ... now and then ... travelling ...

I also remember Edinburgh where I spent a very nice week in April 2007, a green and healthy capital, visiting its castle, of course, and Holyrood Palace, and wandering along the Royal Mile, or climbing up Arthur's Seat, and also discovering, very nearby, the most beautifully carved and chiselled chapel I've ever seen, Rosslyn Chapel, a jewel !
I've also appreciated haggis, neeps and tatties I absolutely wanted to try in a restaurant.

Who dared say British food wasn't tasty ? Certainly not me ...
I'll tell more now and again, when I highlight, through various songs, my England summers in the late sixties and first half of the seventies, as I'm given here the chance and the pleasure to recall my best youth holidays which have left me sweet memories, forever dear to me !

BUT, posting more than two comments at a time means having to go through garbled letters difficult to make out, I'm afraid You Tube might say No to four ...
shall I manage to stick to three ?
I WAS A BIT SLOW TO REACT TO THE FRENCH WORDS IN BARRY' S SONG : Nothing's gonna change our world, SO SURPRISED AS I WAS BY THE WHOLE SONG,
BY BARRY' S VOICE TOO, ONCE AGAIN DIFFERENT ... AND THIS TIME ... AS SURROUNDING AS THE WORDS HE SINGS ... AND I REALIZED AFTERWARDS THERE WERE SOME FRENCH WORDS WHEN I SUDDENLY HEARD VERY CLEARLY : ET JE TE FERAI SOURIRE ...
And yet, the same English words were sung just above, I really wasn't quick-witted on that morning ... or not completely awake !
Barry chanteur de charme with this song ?
WHO' D HAVE THOUGHT OF IT ?
Et cette chanson ... is going to run through my head very often, as surrounding as ... Chanel n°5 ...

When looking for inspiration,I like to Hide in my Shell of astro Cancer, sheltering my expressive inner life and colourful thoughts in deep silence and isolation, for high concentration, allowing my mind to roam free, to find the spirit and the energy I need ... and design, then paint rosy pictures that I call for myself My Glam'Art ! With music on this time !
I couldn't do any fashionable dark painting, any nasty subject. I've always loved and preferred brightness and liveliness in art and music !
Both so vitalizing ! Positive attiTube ?
Country:
France
Interests:
All artistic matters, events and exhibitions ( Art colours and surprises Life ), painting, design and decoration shops, fashion and advertising photos giving me inspiration in my present paintings, cinema, 60s-70s-80s music ( Music sings and enchants Life ), small and comical theatre, visiting big cities or touristic villages, and also long walks in the country and forests. Real interest in Britain, British culture, and in meeting British people since my first stay in England (1969 ), linked to my first experience of self-responsibility, the discovery of a different way of life, of the kind of music I would make mine, definitely, and encounters with charming and welcoming ladies I stayed with ! And I love the beautiful view of the White Cliffs of Dover each time I come over to England with the ferry, I know it means an enjoyable holiday ! When will next time be ... now ? Fond of Indian curry and all mixed salads, as well as cream teas and cheese cake when in England. Care of the planet.
Movies:
Four Weddings and a Funeral : irresistible wacky British comedy among very close friends. Feel like having the chance to attend a similar funny wedding one day ?In the Mood for Love : fascinating platonic romance and wonderful beauty of the music and the pictures. Secrets and Lies : the moving encounter between a coloured girl and her real white mother. How awful and painful for mother and child, those family secrets about hidden births ! Snow Cake : in Canada, the exceptional and poetical encounter of a real English gentleman and an autistic mother in sorrow at the accidental loss of her daughter, or how to take a kindly and understanding look at different people. A very tasty one, That snow cake! Dead Poets Society : the ideal teacher everyone should get the chance to have at least once in their life, giving self-confidence and faith in one's dreams. The Queen : interesting and revealing portrait of the most famous Queen, duty and love of nature first, feelings afterwards.Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain : a lovely and fresh sparkling-eyed Parisian girl busy making people happy around her, and eventually finding true happiness herself : imagination, mischievousness and optimism, a treat ... without moderation ! What else ? If you have one to recommend, please do !
Music:
The Beatles, Paul and Barry Ryan, John Lennon, Bonnie Tyler, Klaus Nomi, the Bee Gees, Mika, Abba, Supertramp, the Corrs, Scottish music and Irish dancing : Lord of the Dance, Celtic Legends ( never seen Scottish dancing ). Two songs by the Stones : You better move on, She's a rainbow. A few French singers : Sylvie Vartan, France Gall and Michel Berger, Emma Shapplin ( singing in latin and Italian )my favourite wicked French song being, strangely, Confidence pour confidence by Jean Schulteis : an amazingly selfish and scornful man singing an unkind non-love song, I don't care, care for you, You love me but not me, since we're speaking frankly, it's me I love through you ! If you want caresses, do not stay, stay with me, I do love without feelings, since we're speaking ... etc ( Using a formal and distant : vous, as we do when first meeting someone, with friends we say : tu ) Great wicked idea and good music anyhow !And it is real delight to be able to listen to My Music here, while painting, my computer not far from my easel, and to discover now and then songs and videos by my favourites that I'd never heard or seen before... and more particularly enjoying at the moment: Scorpio Rising, Star, Sober Phobia and Take it All by P.Ryan, also Turn Away, Strong, Nothings gonna change Our World, La Dolce Vita, The Force is With You and Break The Circle (recently discovered ) by B.Ryan. Loads of thanks to all !
Books:
Oscar Wilde plays, books and his witty genius, posh attitude and impertinence, indeed even insolence. I wish I'd listened to one of his society talks, just once ! No doubt he would have accepted me, even though not from the aristocracy, wasn't he terribly unconventional himself ? But being a pioneer has always been risky, though needed !A year in the merde, and Merde actually by Stephen Clarke, a humorous and mocking, but realistic novel about our French way of life, by a journalist who's chosen to live in Paris, in spite of all. No hard feelings, Mr Clarke, I've even bought Merde happens, and also attended your Talk to the Snail speech, or how to get along with those damned snails, ... oh, sorry, froggies, once living in Lyon ! And you insisted that, in your books, you are not mocking, but teasing us ... which, I felt, does make a difference for you, and you also confessed that you couldn't live in England now !!! Thanks, Stephen Clarke, I didn't expect that much ! Among the people who come across my long profile and courageously read it to the end, any British message about the frog and snail eaters we're supposed to be would be amusing and interesting for me to read. You're very welcome !But do you know that the posh, costly and fine dish now in fashion on most of our French tables, as a starter to family celebration meals, is le foie gras, another of our tortures inflicted to ducks or geese this time, the livers of which are fattened up ( an old tradition from Périgord, south-west of France, that has spread out ) : this is le foie gras, we have it with cold onion purée, fig jam, toast, and sweet white wine ...and it is delicious, though ! Goose ( oie ) foie gras is milder, I prefer duck ( canard ). And some English friends of mine who've had it for the first time at home did like it ! But not to be mistaken for pâté, it would nearly be a sacrilege to our French Cuisine to compare it to pâté, and everybody knows that Cuisine is part of our cultural heritage ! French Gourmets might be a bit touchy ... Hope my advice helpful to someone someday !Now for fun, I suggest new fun nicknames for us, such as duckies or goosies, I'm not touchy at all, and keen on British humour ! Other books :The shell seekers by Rosamunde Pilcher, Othello by Shakespeare, or what mad jealousy may do.Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources by Marcel Pagnol, two great books for the story of a dark and sordid rivalry between people about a piece of land with a spring, in Provence, and an incredible and tragic ending.Any humorous British books to recommend ?Amicalement Odile

Hi, Odile, as to my french vocabrary now it is almost the same like your japanese. But I felt that I can hear every unknown word in the train when I was in Paris 3-4 years ago. To pronouce them is not easy I know but if I ever could I would feel as if I am at home , I feel near to french thinking and my french friend says I am not so different than her people in France. Of course my nature is the mixture of French, Japan, Italian I feel myself....I love English and German but I cannot quite identify myself except I wellcome them. I am so sorry that I cannot say I have learnt a lot about my 3 languages so that I can start with Italian..... then french .... let´s see what my future brings. As to the Sayonara song , I might have heard once , it was a romantic song , isn´t it?

Well , I will write you again in a couple of days..... a littel news ...

Hugs , June

" Les Années Bonheur " avec You Tube, c'est malheureusement FINI ... FINI !!!
Isn't that weird now ... totally pointless ... suddenly ...
to talk about " extreme privacy " on You Tube
that was supposed to be encouraging people to " Public Self-Broadcasting " ?
How is it possible that they turn their coats that way ???
They've spoiled Our Pleasure to post videos and write comments on them
... on the lame excuse of Our Privacy !!!
lyon69france (2 days ago)
And of course, we won't know the True reason why ...
they put an end to Our Freedom of Speech and Easy Sharing with others !
They didn't, they don't pay any attention to Our Comments !!!
They spoiled it all ...
I hate the way You Tube now is ...
I'm afraid My Heart is no longer in it ...
We are now compelled to ISOLATION ... FORCED AND CURSED ISOLATION !!!

BINGO is a song I used to teach to the French kids who learnt English with me !
My purpose was ... to show them that the alphabet letters are pronounced differently,
I hope I reached my goal ... who can say what they remember years later ?
But I think singing helps ... ( I wish I'd learnt English that way too ! )
And what is certain is ... that they DID love that song they didn't know,
and REALLY enjoyed the " clapping game " when the letters are vanishing,
and I can say that the last verse REALLY was ... " a Big Hit " each time !!!
I just wanted to write about this ... an amusing memory on my mind !!!

Bon nuit soon, it's a pity .... we could unite the world with our individuality with own channel creation and so on....
I am so happy that I have met many good friends even for a short time, some came and seemed to leave but such a friend like you I guess we keep our friendship as long as we can or forever, let's see.... Even some seems to have gone far now but many can remember me and I do the same because there is a personal note in the channels... but I will also remain and see how it develops and change again. If you have a E-mail adress , send me a line : mex@aon.at But this is something to be sure in case of ..... and sometimes I could send photos with lines..... Have a beautiful evening , Odile!
