I've been in recovery from anorexia nervosa since Summer 2008. My video is just a small bit of insight into the struggle I and millions of other individuals endure when they suffer from an eating disorder. They are, in my opinion, the most underfunded, trivialized disorders, yet some of the most destructive physically and mentally. Despite what some think, anorexia is NOT about being thin at the root.

What is recovery? A lot of doctors put too much emphasis on this foreboding goal. Recovery, in my opinion, is not a goal or destination but a developmental journey. You are truly recovered when you no longer define yourself as just an eating disorder or someone that recovered from an eating disorder.

About me as a person: I'm 18 years old and a freshman in college. I'm double-majoring in Linguistics and Philosophy. I also volunteer with Oxfam in Manhattan and an organization called Food Not Bombs.
