Dinah was truly "the Queen"! I saw her at the Apollo in New York. What a treat!! Then I saw Pearl here in Boston and she was an absolute delight! Here we have two giants - each in her own way. Oh how I miss these ladies of song.....

I can't get enough of Bau. I have all his CDs. Wish he would come and preform in Boston, at some well known theatre where many can enjoy his artistry. Also wish he would record more.

@Nickspeak I'm glad you're in agreement. I couldn't wait to see him "live" when he appeared in Boston. Unfortunately, it was in a huge disco/dating type club - not the kind of setting he deserves. But if he continues to sing the same kind of mindless songs, he'll stay at that level. Pity.

I had the pleasure of seeing the great Jesse Cook and his outstanding musicians at the Somerville Theatre (Massachusetts) on 2/24/11 and man, let me tell you, what a show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Outstanding!! I had the pleasure of seeing Amos Lee at the North Sea Jazz Festival a few years ago and he blew us all away! I wished it was recorded - there isn't anything in his 4 CDs that comes anywhere near what we heard that evening but.....hope springs eternal, I have tickets for his April...

Great vocalist! Lets hope Melinda does more songs from of the Great American Songbook. She's too big a talent to waste on just any song. No question, she and LaKisha Jones were American Idol's best that season. Can't wait for her second album.

Lena Horne was a one-of-a-kind talent. We'll never see anybody like her again. Today the word "swagger" is mistaken for what really is "attitude". I know of only 2 female vocalists with "swagger" and that's Lena Horne and Alicia Keys. The latter is now the heir apparent.

I disagree! I heard Jennifer Hudson sing a AND I AM TELLING YOU duet with Jennifer Holiday and the latter was superior - Jennifer Hudson didn't have the vocal range. Not to take away from her but both Jennifer Holiday and LaKisha Jones are better vocalists.

This lady can sing - period!! I hope she gets around to doing a few songs from the Great American Songbook with a jazz bent.

I wish I could mentor this gifted young man, I would steer Elliott in the direction of jazz. I would find him a good arranger, a vocal coach, and help select better songs. His talent is being wasted on inferior material he (& others) have chosen. I believe he could go far if only he would sur...
