It reminds me of an incident on a Honda CB750 when I was measuring the float level on the carbs with a $100 dollar pair of calipers, then I noticed that the floats and the idle jet lined up

at the proper measurement when a steel ruler was placed across the floats and idle jet.

I think the method of testing difference is that younger guys will always do it electronically and the older guys are just more practical and hook up a vacuum pump.

A slow jet is made out of brass and has no moving parts that can be adjusted.
