I totally agree with what roksh2010 said. Indeed, the democratic ROC government did their best to preserve the traditional Chinese culture. The Chinese characters is one prime example...the so called "simplified" Chinese writing promoted by the Communists is the greatest assault on Chinese cultur...

All these back and forth dirty languages simply demonstrated two things:

1. Those who think themselves are "Taiwanese", instead of "Chinese", are uncultured raised in a small island that haven't seen the world.

2. Those who claimed that the Communists legit government are simply too stupid to rea...

The Communists did everything they could to prevent the Republic of China from using her own national flag. What are those barbarous Communists afraid of?

Oh, I see, they don't want the 1.3 billion people under their control in mainland to see there is an alternative to the dictatorship in Beiji...

One day, the Communists will be eventually eliminated and driven out by the entire Chinese people. It will collapse just like its master, the Soviet Union. Tell me, where is the once all-mighty USSR now?

My first cousin flew F104 back in the late 1970's for the Republic of China Air Force in Taiwan. It was a formidable aircraft used against Chinese Communists' Russian-made MIG fighters. Unfortunately, the safety record of F104 wasn't that great, and my cousin died in a crash in 1980.

If the Communists in Beijing have any balls, they would have an open election, allowing all political party candidates to participate in a fair election, let the entire Chinese people choose the political system they desire.

But, I don't think sharing the power is what the Communists in mind at all.
