Trained as a symphony musician, I have many years of experience as a professional tuba player. All of my training, save my marriage and family counseling degree, was in music (tuba performance. I hate ignorant comments and postings. You are known by your words. I have been a university professor and students will believe anything they read on the web, even if preceded by the words, I DON'T KNOW. If you are filming something to be put on YouTube, don't hesitate to ask questions while you are filming it. People will believe anything you write, especially my students.

On YouTube, I like the (California) band review videos. For those of you who played in your high school band who AREN'T from California, let me tell you a band review is a contest in which a standard military march is played in a military formation. They have all the frilly stuff too, like flags and the other things you see in high school marching bands.

The bands from the south and the north are very different. Southern California parade bands are generally very strict. You will notice the sousaphone players tend to wear the same headgear as everyone else. Northern California bands are more creative and they have more parades. There are good bands in both parts of the state.
