About this user

Louvana is a traditional Cypriot soup.
Louvana is also the name of an established indie record company based in Cyprus.

It all started in March 2007, when Cypriot musician (and Louvana Records co-founder) Leferis Moumtzis started hosting a series of live music showcases in the back room of the Grosvenor Pub in Stockwell, South London. Worth noting that during the first ever Louvana music night, louvana soup was also served to the audience. Even though the series featured a wide range of music genres performed by various guest bands (rock, jazz, acoustic, folk and even electronic), the focus and essence of the series remained presenting a music scene based on unique, good quality independent music to be enjoyed by music makers and music fans alike. In its first year Louvana hosted over 30 shows with 30 bands from the UK and abroad. Featured bands included Master of Disguise, Pigling Bland, Adam Beattie, The Invisible (then called My Angel's Boombox) and many others.

When Lefteris moved back to Cyprus, he brought with him the tradition of Louvana. The series of events started slowly picking up as time progressed and in September 2009 the first ever "Louvana Acoustic Music Festival" took place in Pentakomo, Cyprus. The Festival hosted about 10 artists and music groups from Cyprus, England, Scotland and Sweden. That's where Louvana Records was born too, releasing it's first ever compilation CD featuring artists that performed at the Festival.

Louvana Records is now actively working with local independent artists, distributing music by international affiliate artists, hosting monthly series of live music and organizing the Louvana Festival on a yearly basis.
