In the versions of the libretto that I had acess to, the french and english bits are in italian. I was recently at a production of this opera by Rene Jacobs, and the lines in both french and english were different from this version's. How did you decide what would be the right line?

Nothing speaks more eloquently about Mozart's genious than the fact that arias like "un moto di gioia" or "al desio di chi t'adora" are....alternative

I agree...but the point isn't the fact that he wrote the 9th deaf...the point is that he wrote it, period. Even if he was a super-man with 10 senses, it would still be pure genious
