Louroz Mercader's Official Video Channel. Running to represent Ward 7 on Mississauga City Council. President of Mississauga Youth Games (MY Games).
About Me:

Louroz M. Mercader is a Filipino-born Canadian. He has grown up, passionately works and continues to live in the historic four corners of Cooksville. He is the Founder and President of the Mississauga Youth Games (MY Games), a grassroots non-profit that provides free sporting and artistic programs to young people in Mississauga. With a public relations background, Mr. Mercader previously served as a Communications Strategist for a local Member of Provincial Parliament.

As a passionate advocate for youth issues he has played a leading role over the last 12 years in the development of numerous youth engagement programs. As a past chairperson of the Mayor's Youth Advisory Committee he founded Mississauga Youth Week; an annual celebration of the talents and achievements of the city's young people. Louroz Mercader has worked as the Program Coordinator for Youth Can Move the World; an initiative devoted to promoting environmental, social and economic sustainability to young people in the Region of Peel.

Louroz is a city-builder who presently serves as a director on the boards of the United Way of Peel Region, the Young Leaders Council, Safe City Mississauga, and GO Transit Customer Service Advisory Committee. He is also the founder of the Institute for Youth Citizenship; an association committed to engaging youth in local government, and in 2009 launched Local Democracy Week at Queen's Park.

Mr. Mercader has served on the board of directors of the Canadian National Exhibition Association, Heritage Mississauga, the Healthy City Stewardship Centre, the Peel Halton Dufferin Training Board and Square One Youth Centre.

He is a proud past participant of the Maytree Foundation's Leaders for Change (2007-2008) and Schools4Civics (2008) programs. In 2009, Louroz was appointed to the inaugural DiverseCity Fellows: The Greater Toronto Leadership Project.

Mr. Mercader was a recipient of the Canada Day Youth Award in 2000 and was awarded the 2001 Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.
