WSTA - WORLD SAILING TEAM ASSOCIATION
The WSTA (World Sailing Team Association) was founded in Spring 2009 under the initiative of Larry Ellison, Yves Carcelle, Grant Dalton, Bruno Troublé and Russell Coutts.
Behind this prestigious institution lie the greatest professional sailing teams in the world.
The Association grew out of the hugely successful Louis Vuitton Pacific Series that took place in Auckland, New Zealand, last February. Nine teams competed in a 15-day event on Aucklands Waitemata Harbor in a series praised for its format and originality.
Many of the teams have taken part in previous Louis Vuitton Cup races, but there are also new teams, such as the British TEAMORIGIN, the Swedish Team Artemis or the Russian Synergy. All of them are now taking part in the Louis Vuitton Trophy as a means of preparing for the next America's Cup.
Laurent Esquier is the president of the WSTA. His vast thirty-year history of managing teams competing in the Americas Cup gives him the experience needed to lead the organisation.
With tremendous support behind it, the Louis Vuitton Trophy should also feature fantastic, boat-for-boat racing
