Don't think Case called these DC4's in 1940, more likely is a DH. DC4's had the sliding rear wheels like the DC's (what use that was I don't know since the front axle was fixed on them).

Case didn't make D's until 1939 and this one is even newer than that. The 1939 D's had their instruments mounted in little pods on either side of the steering wheel shaft instead of on a panel at the fuel tank like this, and the clutch lever was on the right side that year like the C's were.

model DC Case, I could pretty much tell from the sound of it right at the start of the clip. D's have a rather distinctive sound to my ears. Looks like an earlier model because it has the oil screen in the sump, later ones don't because they have oil filters.

Nice tractor! What is the serial number? If the S/N plate is missing on the dash, check on the engine to transmission flange on the left side of the tractor beside the air cleaner, the S/N is stamped there too. Then subtract 4 from the first 2 digits of it to get the year.

if your tractor has lights you will need 12V bulbs in them too. As for negative vs positive ground it makes no difference to anything on the tractor so long as you hook the battery up correctly (i.e. negative grounded alternator needs the battery negative post connected to ground).
