    The Boy Friend: Part4

    Part 4 of 4

    lostinthestars100 lostinthestars100 commented:

When Hyacinth arrives at neighborhood she acts like the queen. She is introduced to the "locals" and replies in an aristocratic way "How do you do". She never reaches the upper class, but for this short moment she is upper class. Brilliant scene.

The Perfect Year from Sunset Blvd by Patti LuPone

The Perfect Year from Sunset Blvd promo video by Patti LuPone and Kevin Anderson.

    lostinthestars100 lostinthestars100 commented:

From her eyes, strange way to look, to the way she moves her head with her make up, she is Norma Desmond. She looks and behaves strangely because she is in character. And still able to sing in an easy way.

GLENN CLOSE UP CLOSE - With One Look

Always liked her as an actress, but cannot get over the fact, she simply cannot sing. The score is low and her singing... well and that takes so much out of Norma. I wish I could like this and I am happy so many do, but I can't lie. Not for me.

PETULA CLARK - Entrance, "Surrender," "With One Look" (2nd US Tour)

The obscenely bad 2nd US tour with Petula Clark hagging it up as Norma. Rushed and done on the cheap, it was the final attempt to make any money of...

Horrible. The worst nightmare of a musical production. Sure, sets are cheap, lighting is bad, staging laughable, BUT PC is the one making Norma a clown, anti-star. Her performance is horrible. The ending of With One Look is a joke. I would have walked out after Surrender. Sorry to say.

Thanks, waited this to return. What an ending. At least she got this kind of triumph on her closing night form this horrible run she had with SB. Not just a diva, but a true artist.

    With One Look

Norma Desmond in the flesh and skin of Glenn Close. Another great present for Andrew in his 50th birthday.

    lostinthestars100 lostinthestars100 commented:

Glenn Close is a fine actress. But she isn't a fine musical actress for one reason: she can't sing. ALW lowered the keys and removed the highest notes and she still can't sing it. Anyone who has listened to her version should find LuPone's or Buckely's version and find out what this song should s...

WOW! What a performance. The belter, the actress in one. Emotional and powerful. Anyone telling Glenn Close would perform this song on stage with same power LuPone did, isn't listening.

With One Look Sunset Blvd ~ London, 1994 Patti LuPone

Patti's final performance as Norma Desmond in Sunset Blvd. Just listen to her belt out that final line. Splendid!

    lostinthestars100 lostinthestars100 commented:

With just a pic and audio she sounds fantastic! Of course she could play the part. Her firing had nothing to do with acting etc.
