realy asadbabili, iran started the war with iraq ?!?
according to the vast majority of accredited sources [including bbc http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4260420.stm ] it was started by iraq. iether your mummy and daddy told you otherwise and/or saddam hussein did ... they don't count as accredited sources by the way.

well niether my mummy or daddy told me anything about the evil man Khomaini, I was there in the war, the war that he started aginst us Iraqies in the name of exporting the shit revolution to Iraq, for 8 years and while thousends were dying, he refused all the calls from iraqi leaders and international's to stop that war.
I hate that evil man (ROH AL SHAITAN) and I am really surprised how a civilized nation as the Iranian one beleive and being proud of such a stupid and evil man Khomaini.

Very good point and sad that educated Iranian people outside Iran still supporting shah. Even they have clasic education but they are poor on political issues and one of the reseans that Mullah's regime still in power because these people are not active outside Iran to bring Iranian voice and they suffer to west

I am not supporting Shah or Sheikh. I support Democracy for Iran and hope after toppling mullah's regime by Iranian people and their resisdence we will have that.

hdaryamehr, at least we agree about your last point...make sure UK and US [and their corporate backers] never interfer again in irans' governing structures. or, i would say, any government [or corporation] with any other government.
virtually anyone who has ever had dealings with western iranians, and especially those in LA view almost 100% of them to be astoundingly arrogant, elitist, greedy, racist, isolationist, corporate ass licking and imperialistic.
and finaly, instead of applauding the pbs documentary for exposing the shahs' Savak [as do all other accredited sources] as being the most ruthless secret police in modern world history...no instead you criticize the documentary for pronouncing "Savak" incorrectly ?
what the fuck ?

elduderoyal, "on a very pragmatic level", this is what Amnesty International reported about your beloved shas' regime in 1976: that Iran had the "highest rate of death penalties in the world, no valid system of civilian courts, and a history of torture which is beyond belief. No country in the world has a worse record of human rights than Iran."
and while he was buzzy raping the country to stuff his pockets as well as those of western oil corporations, there were some iranians who became wealthy as facilitators of his corrupt dictatorship, while those who dissented got tortured and murdered. i have an idea which group your family belonged to.
meanwhile, did he encouage a degree of modernization...sure...so did hitler.

The fact of the matter is that you really have no proper standing to make such inflammatory comments and insult the Iranian community in Los Angeles by painting them all with one brush. Moreover, your condescending tone is unwarranted by the fact you did not live under the Shah's rule and neither did those American wankers who cannot even properly pronounce the word Savak in the PBS clip. The British, French and even Germans had a lot to do with creating instability in Iran not just the Americans and in the future I will go back to my homeland and make sure you western thugs have nothing to do with ruining the lives of millions of people in their own land like you did in 1979.

don't you find it a bit self-important to so quickly dismiss the overwhelmingly positive opinions of what you acknowledge as an educated, cultured, prosperous community as mere ignorance? clearly, you've read a book or two on the history, but does that give you a more educated opinion than those of us who actually lived in the country? granted, a certain degree of the shah-love in LA is from a misinformed, nostalgic and monarchistic feelings, however, on a very pragmatic level, the shah was a relatively great leader for iran. and unless your being idealistic (in which case i shouldn't be bothering getting into actual history and politics with you), relative is the only way to consider it.

Again I nwat to thank you for being so observant of how retarted the Californian Iranians are behaving after what the Shah of I ran has done to my country. Though we are always cynical about anything British, yet I give you full credit for sigling out California Iraninans as odd and NEO CONS like Bush and his cronies.
