Obento is a a term for Japanese boxed lunch and is also known simply as bento. (I apologize my bento didn't come out too cute)

The idea for bento boxes is to make your food presentable in either a decorative or cute, kid friendly manner.

There are a variety of ways to make a bento box lunch which can be either simple or elaborate.

In this video I will show to make a very basic not too fancy obento lunch but manner people do prefer the fancier kind. Just google: bento or obento in the search engine and click on images. You will see how fancy some people make their lunches, it is definitely and eye treat.

A standard bento needs to have rice, meat and veggies. Most bento boxes have tamago (japanese rolled egg), rice with cut out nori and octodogs which are octopus shaped hotdogs.

Some ideas for a cute bento are car shaped hard boiled eggs which can be made with a egg mold, veggies used to decorate your rice, and for more other wondrous ideas I suggest visiting bento specialized websites such as lunchinabox.net. (less info)
