History Lesson...............................................I read with much amusment on how the Preah Vihear temple was once Thai and a misdrawing by the French and Thailand's lack of protest now justifies that the temple belongs to Cambodia.

The Preah Vihear temple was built by the Khmers of the Khmer Empire. Khmer = Cambodia, Cambodian. The temple once sat at the center of the Khmer Empire. It's important to stress on the word "centre". The Khmer Empire once covered most of what is presently Southern Vietnam and Thailand, and parts of Laos etc. There are millions of Thai of Cambodian origin speaking Cambodian all over Thailand this present day to testify this truth. The Speaker of the National Assembly of Thailand is a Khmer descendant, and many many more. The Preah Vihear temple is historically, culturally and legally Cambodian. Don't be knocked over by the Thai nation's fantasy of owning the temple. If you bring up history lessons into your arguement, ask this, who wrote those lessons? The Thai government? Or Thai nationalism? Why don't you try reading the Cambodian version? Or the international version? Why don't you try the international version since it may be more balanced?

Remember, Thailand only had its own alphabet less than 200 years ago, which was invented by King Mongkut who adapted it from the Cambodian alphabet. The Royaaaal Thai court etiquettes, language, and dances etc. were brought to Bangkok from Angkor ( capital of the Khmer Empire where Angkor Wat is) by captured Royaaaal Khmer artisans etc.

I can go on....But I won't upset certain Thai nationalists reading this.

It's really important for Thailand to acknowledge where its culture originally came from....................................................

---------------------------------Its funny the way thai nationaists go on about the territories theyve lost to the khmers and french. These alleged "lost" territories, the Thai nation, and generations of Thai governments, always claim as "theirs", included Battambang, Siem Reap etc. etc.

Here is the truth:

During World War 2, upon the collapse of the French colonial power in Cambodia, Thailand took the opportunity to invade and steal Cambodian territories. The land never belonged to you in the first place. Thailand illegally took possession of Cambodian territories. Upon the end of World War 2, and return of the victorious French colonial power, Thailand was forced to hand back STOLEN territories from Cambodia. There you go. However, the French colonial power were rather generous and allowed Thailand to keep territories such as Surin, Sisaket and Buriram. Please remember, the Thai nation originally came from Southern China as a result of the Mongol's conquest of their land. They seeked refuge in Cambodian territories which, as a direct result of the collapse of the Khmer Empire, became Thai territory, eventually Thailand. Thailand had never lost territories, rather it has always gained Cambodian territories. To this day, Thailand is once again trying to falsely claim land surrounding the Preah Vihear temple, and dare to want to register an ancient Cambodian temple in its name.


It is Cambodia that has always lost and continue to lose territories/land to Thailand ------

But not all Thais are nationalists or PAD members. Many fair and honest Thais DO exist, but are usually overshadowed by the upper class, faciast thais who run the media......this quote is a good example of how many thais opinions are being hidden and thailands image as a whole is being ruined by the yellow snotty faciast thais in Bangkok.

Unfortunately for Thailand's Military/mafia-run undemocratic state, if the army has another bloody attack on its people, it wont go unnoticed by the international community, and there will be a price to pay. "
