After a busy year away from the London music scene, spent writing and collaborating with industry songwriters and producers, Liza has returned stronger than ever. Her collaboration with Ken Rose (performer, producer and staff songwriter for, among others, Warner-Chappell, EMI, Famous Music Corp) resulted the creation of in two moving and mature songs, I Wouldn't Change a Thing and This 'n' That, both penned over several days at Livingstone Studios in London.
Liza's conversational voice like her Canadian inspiration Sarah McLachlan, effortlessly weaves its way through rich melodies, describing the colourful highs and lows of love and life. She is not like her female British contemporaries, blasting out their chesty stage school vocals. Liza is more cunning, she draws you in slowly until you are mesmerized and caught in her world of observations. She is telling them to you like a friend would share their deepest secrets. "Imagine walking into a darkened room to hear Eva Cassidy and the Carpenters doing an impromptu jam session, you shouldn't be surprised to turn on the light and find it was Liza"
'Her words carry inviting warmth and a melodic undertone. There is a familiarity about her that exudes an unmistakable old soul. She is part Linda Ronstadt, part Carole King and Joni Mitchell yet somehow still one hundred percent Liza Finn.
It is the vulnerability in Liza's music that draws you in, she is quick to share her heartbroken experiences but there is sadness to her honesty. This is a girl who truly wears her heart on her sleeve and is unapologetic for it. "Perhaps Liza Finn's most unique talent lies in these smart juxtapositions: her sunniest upbeat tunes are dyed in dark undertones. Finn's is a world where nothing is quite as it seems."
Liza Finn's eagerly anticipated debut EP "Perceptions" is scheduled for release in 2011. Expect a dramatic change from her previous pop musings. With the wizardry production of producers Paul Birchall (M People), Paul O'Neil (The Verve, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Gary Barlow) and under the guidance of Steve Galeazzi (International DJ, Manager, writer and producer) this EP will surely be the springboard for Liza's leap into the mainstream music world.
