About Me:
Welcome to Live Breathe Makeup. I'm Valerie, a self-proclaimed lover of all things makeup and beauty. My goal is to teach you everything I know about makeup (which is growing everyday!) and become your go-to source for makeup tutorials, product reviews and other tips and tricks I have picked up along the way.
In addition to being an ambitious University student, I am a freelance makeup artist based in the Montreal area. I have had the pleasure of working the cosmetic counters of several high-end department stores, of working on countless beautiful faces, of working alongside well-known makeup artists at high-profile beauty events such as the 2009 Montreal Fashion Festival and of being part of the team to successfully launch Sephora into Quebec. I have been working for Sephora for almost four years now and I continue to work freelance contracts on the side to further expand my professional experience and my portfolio.
Like many girls, my interest in makeup and beauty sparked at a young age but it wasnt until my pre-teen years when I was part of a competitive dance team that I started to recognize a talent for dramatic makeup and a passion for beauty. At the tender age of 15, I enrolled in a Beauty Makeup night program at Académie Internationale Edith Serei all the while going about my normal high school life by day. I graduated and became the youngest certified makeup artist in Quebec at the age of 16 and started working almost immediately to share my love for makeup and my acquired knowledge with as many faces as I could get my hands on. At age 16, I took the Specialized Makeup course while finishing high school. My latest accomplishment was to receive a makeup teaching position at my old trade school, Académie Internationale Edith Serei at the young age of 20 years old. Even with two makeup certificates and teaching position under my belt, I seek more knowledge, I welcome more experience, I constantly challenge myself to develop my talent and I strive to be the best artist I can be. The more I learn, the deeper my passion for beauty grows and I hope to share my passion with all of you.
