This is an easy fix. The best way to work around this is to remove the plastic switch and then just use a sharp pointed object to turn on the unit. I work with hundreds of these all day so I learned a few tricks here and there.
Blew your head gasket. Time for a tear down and deck the head and block to be safe. If all internal look good then place new gasket and put back together.
