About this user

I have been a part of the White Rose Kyudojo for 5 years now, and my love of this wonderful group and my desire to learn Kyudo have inspired me to document our history through video and images.

The White Rose Kyudojo is the only independent Kyudo club in the United Kingdom. This means that we are free to practise many styles of Kyudo. We study and research the traditional techniques of shooting and movement derived from ceremonial, battlefield, hunting, monastic and contemporary styles of Kyudo. This gives our members a unique overview of the beautiful, dynamic and varied world of the Japanese longbow.

We are not a cult, religious sect or closed society. All are welcome to participate in the positive benefits of practise. We believe in international friendship through Kyudo, and that Kyudo should be available to everyone.

We follow the traditional Japanese method of training for self-development, and not rank. We are not expected to attend expensive seminars, nor to pay examination fees, and equipment is made available free of charge. Our teachers give their time and knowledge without receiving payment.

Beginners are welcome throughout the year. If you are interested in Kyudo, come along to our friendly dojo and find out whether Kyudo is what you are looking for.
