saxquiz, I am not a fan of watching movies or TV etc. It is not portable and it is difficult to watch a movie 20 times, at lest for me. I like to listen and read and I like to get to where I understand around 75% of what I am listening to before I move on. That is why I like audio and text. That is why we developed the LingQ system.

Hey Steve, great videos! I agree with you that language should be absorbed with LOTS of listening, but are you of the belief that you can learn a language by only listening to authentic audio and watching TV? This would be without looking at any translations; getting everything from context over time. For example, starting with something like "French in Action" and watching those multiple times and then moving on to authentic TV. Are people who say that they learned a language from watching TV and movies exaggerating? I want to try this method and I'm wondering what you're thoughts are on it. I've learned Arabic to a degree, but it was with traditional methods such as vocab lists and lessons. Thanks much for all the work that you do!

How did that French teacher inspire you? What did he do exactly? I am a language teacher, I would love to know!
