For DX Visual Studio C++ is the best IDE. I use dev-c++ for Allegro and other C++ projects I work on.

Hey is the guy from the allegro game... Look which IDE you use to program with DirectX? I'm reading a book of jonathan harbour, and I'm trying to use Visual C++ 2005 but i don't have enabled the windows applications project template... I found a guide and everything on how to enable it, but just want to know if there's any other options... thanks!
