About Lily & Honglei - Land of Illusion in Second Life
"Land of Illusion" is a platform dedicated to Internet art and Chinese culture. It has been constructed in the form of virtual traditional Chinese architecture in Second Life, and launched a series of online art events created and hosted by Lily & Honglei, the artist team from Beijing, since December, 2006.
By interpreting diverse themes rooted in symbolism in Chinese folklore culture with digital art lauguage, including video, animated painting, online performance and virtual world interaction, the project reflects on the impact of globalization on culture and individaul in the Internet age, which often results personal identity becomes multilayered, misplaced, or spiritually homeless, yet struggling to preserve cultural heritages, re-evaluate history and traditions.
