The Mayor is an 82-minute feature documentary film that tells the real story of Sam Berger, an 88-year-old man living life to the fullest in a retirement community in Texas. In the midst of his third romance since moving in, Sam serves as the local gossip wheel and as a mini-celebrity in the community, where he is known as "The Mayor" because of his charm, care, and charisma. Abounding with romance, relationships, sex, gossip, and old people, The Mayor exemplifies through his daily life the fact that old age can be just as wonderful, meaningful, challenging, and alive a time in one's life as any other!
