Just about good music & meeting like minded people
About Me:

Please Note: If any artists, producers or labels object to me having uploaded your music then please contact me & I will remove it ASAP if not then thank you for letting me share the music that I love & find inspiring for others to discover :)

My first exposure to music outside of Pop was back in 83 with the Streetsounds Electro compilations, I remember hearing these early Hip Hop & Electro sounds for the first time, Id never heard anything quite like it before, these tapes sparked my long lasting love affair with music & Hip Hop.

Back then Hip Hop was hard to obtain let alone hear it getting played on the Radio, people like John Peel & in my neck of the woods in Manchester The Rap Master aka Sam Brown on the early Manchester pirate South Side Radio (83 to 85) & later Stu Allan provided my essential weekly listening with Souled Out from 86 on Picadilly Radio covering Hip Hop, Soul & House music.

I also heard Reggae from Ranking Miss P on BBC Radio 1, I found that Reggae / Dub music sparked another musical interest, but I did not fully explore this or understand it until later in 93 when Blood & Fire came on the scene with there excellent Reggae Revival compilations did I start my learning curve for King Tubby & 70s Roots. My interest for Reggae was also inspired by the early Hardcore / Jungle genre that was sampling these tunes such as SUAD & the Ragga Twins, with its influence covering a whole range of genres from Soul, House, Techno, Hip Hop, Ambient, Reggae , Dub & Electronica via Autechre's influential show on Kiss called Disengage (mid 90s).

With Hip Hop & sampling I also started to learn about late 60s / 70s Funk & James Brown, this was music that I was not exposed to originally in the 70s. Hip Hop & the 80s Raregroove scene really helped me to build my knowledge of black music's history & culture.

The 90s Manchester UK Pirate Radio stations were also influencial & provided me with an outlet to hear Jungle, UK Streetsoul, Hip Hop & Reggae music, that has always been largely ignored to this day by the mainstream commercial radio stations.

I have developed a very open minded taste in music that is reflected in my uploads & playlist.

Honourable mentions need to go out to Rufmouth aka Dave The Ruff (Ruff Beats) http://www.rufmouth.co.uk/ & ex Soulnation Dj with his Boomin System show, Radio Zero (97 to 2003, Tape Only show) for the dope indie underground US & UK Hip Hop joints, Sunset Radio, Steve Barker's On The Wire radio show BBC Radio Lancashire for educating me on Revival Reggae & many other altenative musical styles still going strong after 35 years, catch it on Saturdays 10pm til Midnight or online
