I'm from Canada and I think this is fine as long as it doesn't go too far. They are still doing their job of watching the crowd and if anything, the crowd would be more willing to listen to these cops if something broke out because these cops are now seen as "down with it."

I really hope you've had the decency to put this animal on a diet and give it exercise. If not, I hope someone has reported you to animal control / The Humane Society/ ASPCA/ or whoever operates in your area. This IS animal cruelty.
