I think that you should probably build the cabinet out of 3/4 ply, but you could probably get away with 1/2" if you reinforced the corners and joints with some sort of hardwood frame.. that T.V. looks heavy.

@CATRAUK the tool is not necessarily heat treated yet making this irrelevent, unless the tool reaches its decarburizing temperature. still, generally it is best to keep the edge cool anyway....

In comparison to a professional forge, what you have put together is actually quite good. If you would like to greatly improve your heat and forging capabilities, I would reccomend using something like a brake drum to form a firepot (check youtube on how to do this). you co...

here they are firing the bricks. what they are throwing are only bricks that have been dried in the sun, not fully vitrified. this pile will be closed and a fire built inside to fire and vitrify the bricks into a usable masonry unit.

this is really cool.. a pretty amazing invention

I quite like this video.. quite informative; however this person is not a blacksmith. This person is a silversmith. smiths are distinguished by the color of their metal copper, gold, silver black(iron and steel).

Never! This is just wrong. I appreciate the use of traditional tools, however wood is not suppose to be imitated by plastic milk jugs. I don't get this thing about how destructive wood is to natural ecosystems, it is a renewable resource, and if managed correctly is not harmful to the environment...

I am interested in maybe eventually building a dulcimer also and would like to know ow to space the frets correctly. is there any chance you could give me the spacings or direct me to a resource that will tell me how to position them?
