About this user
I don't want to give the impression that my presence on youtube is due to the issue between science and religion, but that's what I am currently into...
I am a geologist but I spend my time mostly developing 3D applications in C# for my company. Beside that I also volunteered for an organisation that helps out lonely or isolated people. Even though it is mostly just talking and listening, it is a learning experience. I meet Christians, Muslims, Africans and Arabs, all with their issues and stories. In them I see that religion gives them a lot of support, but also a lot of confusion.
Besides that I make music and write fiction books. Not yet published, still in review.
I guess I would be called an atheist, but I hate labels. But atheism? no. Nontheism? Na :( it all has to do with god. Atheism only exists at the expense of god, as if god is the norm and I denounce it. My observations are my norm. For me there is no god to begin with, not in the sense that many people use god. The word god is loaded with associations and misunderstandings. So no god for me. But there is definitely some mystery hanging over our heads, not as in heaven or the stars, but figuratively. And something is telling me that it is right in front of our noses ;) I might be able to tell you why I think this but it is a FRIGGIN long process, as long as it takes to talk out all the nonsense society has put in.
I am not a religion-basher, except when religion starts to rudely impose its stuff on me, or others, like creationists arrogantly do... then I can get verbally violent :D
However, the line between feeling imposed on and respecting one's opinion is not clear sometimes. So my apologies in advance if I meet you with undue harsh critique
I am just someone that does not actively believe in anything, of the religious nature then. Neither am I gullible about what science has to offer, but hey, that's what science is... being critical.
The reason why I don't believe in God or any other scripture is not because of science. It is primarily because of the scriptures themselves.
here you can read why (be warned, might be offensive)

Science is not tremendously important for me, its just a tool and I trust that scientists are doing their work well. I love the stuff that paleontologists do, I find it incredibly fascinating. I also love fieldtrips and mapping projects.
I can't imagine that the whole scientific community would be conspiring against religion. Lots of my friends are scientists and they're cool. I am actually a scientist by profession but I'm more into programming and music and writing.
But what is most important for me is getting along with each other. I was born in Africa and lived in a community of Christians, Hindus and Muslims, all moderate believers, not tremendously active. It was a pleasant time and there was never a problem between any of them.
