No, ASCII stick is actually better for fighters. The bat style stick is far superior than the ball stick. I just picked one up new for $10 on Amazon. Works great with MSH, XMEN:COTA, SFZ3, XvSF, MSHvsSF, Cyberbots, SF Collections, MKT.....
