About this user
I had not included a lot of personal information about myself for safety reasons, but I would like to add something here that I want others to know. I am a HUGE UGA fan. What's the saying? UGA born and bred and when I die, I'll be by God BULLDAWG DEAD! That's me in a nutshell. And what you've read is true. UGA football is a way of life here during football season. I don't apologize for it and I don't give a flying flip what ANYONE thinks about it. In fact, if you are reading this, you should consider yourself lucky, because you are now reading what UGA football means to a FEMALE. I think it's important to mention that because I truly believe a lot of the comments placed on YouTube that deals with football are written by males. And I don't think that their views are exactly the same of a female. Now that's not saying the degree of loyalty is different. NO WAY. But I think that women have a different approach.First, to all of you naysayers who think that UGA is upset or sore that we were not in the National Championship game, you couldn't be more wrong. WE ARE PROUD OF OUR BULLDAWGS. And most of us accept that we did not win our conference. No biggie. Why? Because we STILL have a team in the SEC representing our conference in the National Championship game, and I'm rooting for LSU as loud as I can!!! Furthermore, as ANY true college football fan knows, there is a HUGE rivalry between UGA and UF. Did that stop most of us from rooting for UF last year? NO!! UF represents our conference. If it could not be us, then I (and many others) are just as proud that our conference is being represented in the big game.
As for our game this year? I'm not going to take the approach that many of my fellow UGA fans took. I didn't before the game and I won't now. I'm not going to say HI should not have been there. The fact is that THEY WERE. And true to form, our motto here at UGA is "finish the drill." BOTH TEAMS DID JUST THAT. And they did so with gusto and glory and represented our two schools well. What I am happy about is that after all of the arguing on UGA and HI boards about the toughness of the two conferences (SEC and WAC) that we had the opportunity and that THEY had the opportunity to play each other's conference teams. I am happy that our dawgs came out on top, but I also believe that HI proved themselves because they didn't quit. Even when things were very grim for them, they FINISHED THE DRILL. What more could anyone ask of EITHER team?
Now what makes me mad are the sour grapes posts I've seen that accused UGA of rigging the game and paying off the refs. Please - be bigger than that. And to my fellow UGA fans, it's an embarrassment to see the very few I've witnessed actually bring up police records of a particular HI team member. THAT CRAP DOESN'T BELONG IN THE BANTER. And you make the rest of us look bad when you say that bull. On the other hand, HI fans (only seen a few but still...) who have actually gotten on here bringing up SLAVERY and ancestors, MY GOODNESS...You cannot be serious. Here is a piece of trivia you would have known had you really studied your history...ONLY A SMALL AMOUNT OF OUR ANCESTORS OWNED SLAVES. AND THAT'S NOT ACCEPTABLE TO MOST SOUTHERNERS. HOWEVER, MY ANCESTORS AND NO OTHER SOUTHERNERS I KNOW HAD ANCESTORS WHO EMBRACED THIS PRACTICE. YOU WHO HAVE WRITTEN THAT CRAP LOOK LIKE FOOLS. AND IT SURE DOES NOT BELONG IN THE BANTER JUST LIKE THE POLICE RECORD REFERENCES DO NOT. SO PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT - THAT COMMENT IS INTENDED FOR ANY FAN WHO MADE THESE KINDS OF COMMENTS, NO MATTER WHAT TEAM YOU'RE ROOTING FOR.
Do I wish UGA was in the National Championship game? OFCOURSE. And guess what? NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE READING THIS, NO MATTER WHAT TEAM YOU ROOT FOR, IF I WERE A WAGERING WOMAN I WOULD BET THAT YOU WISH YOUR TEAM WAS TOO. But am I bitter? NO WAY! Football may be a way of life here in the south during the season, but there is the issue of respect and good sportsmanship that mean more to me and really to most women. That's not knocking the men, remember, this is from a woman's point of view.
I love my bulldawgs! I also love the SEC! That's why even though one of our biggest rivals is UF, that didn't matter during the championship game last year. They are part of the SEC and I rooted for them. Just like many of them rooted for us during the Sugar Bowl vs. HI this year. IT'S A MATTER OF CONFERENCE AT THIS POINT, AND SO FAR from what I've seen, the SEC is being represented well by LSU vs. Ohio State. GO TIGERS!
