If you're just stacking audio on top of the actual song, it'll make your mistakes a lot less obvious to try to be more accurate with the song, and make an effort to "tune your drums" so they sound closer to the actual recording.

@brandonrosas - You shouldn't base a time signature on how it effects the totality of your "groove," but rather which basic note describes the groove the best. There is no reason to use a quarter note if everything in the song is based on the eighth note. So it would be distinguishing between 1...
