The primary reason I started this channel was to share music I like that is no longer available for purchase. Most of the selections are from LPs and old live concert recordings. Occasionally I may post music from out-of-print CDs. In general I prefer not to post music which is readily available for purchase on CD (or as downloads where the artists can receive a share of the revenue). I suppose one could argue that YouTube videos promote the sale of CDs. I have trouble making up my mind about this. If you own the copyright in any material on this channel, please send me a private message rather than notifying YouTube. I believe that this channel is a valuable cultural and educational resource, and if you complain to YouTube that may result in this channel's termination. Thank you.
For the most part my interest is in modern classical music, with a concentration on some of the less well-known composers working with 12-tone technique and variants of serialism. This is by no means the only kind of music that I like. It's just the area where my collection is perhaps somewhat unique and thus worth sharing.
As you will surely notice, I also have a strong interest in the 20th/21st century art song.
A secondary purpose for this channel is, through brief promo reels, to illustrate my accomplishments in the motion picture industry by highlighting films which I developed and on which I supervised production as a corporate chief executive.

Recent works as a composer: Sonata for Cello & Piano ('Erwartungslos', 2010); String Quartet No. 3 (2009); Concerto for Flute & Chamber Ensemble ('Road Narrows', 2008). Piano Sonata No. 2 (2010). A work that is especially close to my heart is my String Quartet No. 2 (subtitled 'getting darker'), which is dedicated by my fiancee.

Simply put, Creating the next generation of branded entertainment product in theatrical feature films, television, and all ancillary markets, with a concentration on science-fiction, fantasy, action/adventure, horror, innovative and groundbreaking adult relationship stories, and concept and effects driven family entertainment.

Washington-Lee High School; U.C. Movies:
I cannot honestly recommend very many of them. Only a few occur to me as worthy of one's time: "Solaris" (Russian, Andrei Tarkovsky); "Vargtimmen" (Ingmar Bergman); "Mulholland Drive" (David Lynch), "Secret défense" (Jacques Rivette)
Music:
When asked this question, the great Elliot Carter says, "Ives, Ives Ives." My response is "Schoenberg Schoenberg Schoenberg." Until his death in January, 2011, my favorite living composer was the great Milton Babbitt. Now I find myself at a bit of a loss.
Books:
philosophy; books about 20th/21st century music; poetry; serious modern literarture. A few specific books come to mind as being deserving of one's attention, and even (dare I say it) of repeated readings: "Totality and Infinity" (Emmanuel Levinas); "The Veritable Years" (William Everson); "Quantum Metaphysics" (Peter Forrest); "Ethics" (Baruch Spinoza); "L'expérience intérieure" (Georges Bataille); "Style and Idea" (Arnold Schoenberg); "De l'inconvénient d'être né" (E.M. Cioran); "The Women at Point Sur" (Robinson Jeffers); "Counterfactuals" (David Lewis); "Collected Essays" (Milton Babbitt).
