Living Off Leftovers was started in the Winter of 2010 by Travis Kadylak (MC/Vocals)
and Mike O'Connor (Drummer & Guitarist), natives of Johnson City, NY. The idea for
forming a band came about after O'Connor, an ex-touring musician, contacted Kadylak, an
up and coming Emcee, and expressed interest in helping Kadylak record a few songs.
Kadylak shared his vision for starting a band that incorporated elements of Indie Rock,
Alternative Music and Hip-Hop. The two started collaborating on songs combining
acoustic guitars, African drums, and electronic instruments with Kadylak's rap influenced
vocals. Travis and Mike shared an instantaneous musical chemistry and vision for
creating fun loving, thought provoking, "party music".
Travis Kadylak has been playing music since he was in middle school. He discovered his
talent for rapping and song writing as a Freshmen in High School, during which he and
his friends rap battled during study hall. Travis' musical Influences range from
Grandmaster Flash, KRS-One and Common to State Radio, Nirvana and OAR. Kadylak is
the band's vocalist and co-producer.
Mike O'Connor has played drum set in a number of bands and was the percussionist for
the Connecticut based group "Thrown Undertow". Mike's influences include the Red Hot
Chili Peppers, The Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, and Ben Harper.
