soon begin the adventure CA, I tried to gather information or concerns regarding various species of cichlids, the information on the web are scarce and not detailed, in my opinion the most beautiful are the Cichlasoma festae, but I'm not sure given the size reached, you may give me some advice on species to be included in the last post you were talking about a pair of medium size, if you could give me some names I would be grateful
again congratulations for your views of nature
thanks
It is like a river in the mountains. Stones and wood were fallen of the mountains into the water. Very nice!
I am a fan of the Urodela but I really like the aquarium. Do you use filters?, I'm more of aquatic plants but use some filters.
Good channel, a greeting.
My V. heterospila pair are 3 years old. The male is 10" the female 7". To Promote growth, perform plenty of water changes and varied diet. Offering chopped mussels are a good food source to bulk up your cichlids.
It is better to perform a couple of smaller water changes a week, rather than one large water change. Check your nitrate level with a accurate water teat kit, as a high level can be detrimental to fish development. Try to keep in a range of at least 30ppm.

The tank size you quote is quite small to keep a mixed CA cichlid community succesfully. You may have success with a solitary medium sized fish and perhaps a pair of smaller centrals from either the Archocentrus, Cryptoheros or Thorichthys complex? Larger livebearers can also be addded to the mix, but these are better to add before the chosen cichlids are introduced.
I personally think your tank would be better suited to a dedicated breeding pair. In my opinion, this is the best way to experience the wonderful world of CA cichlids. Their parental abilities are unmatched.
Cautious advise, but over the long years of keeping centrals, i have found them to show very diverse behaviour patterns. When dealing with cichlid aggression in community tanks, the overall size certainly dictates their behaviour.
Good luck in your new venture. :~)
