About Me:

Founded in 1948 as Recording for the Blind, Learning Ally serves several hundred thousand K-12, college and graduate students, veterans and lifelong learners -- all of whom cannot read standard print due to blindness, visual impairment, dyslexia, or other learning disabilities. Learning Ally's collection of more than 69,000 digitally recorded textbooks and literature titles -- downloadable and accessible on mainstream as well as specialized assistive technology devices -- is the largest of its kind in the world. More than 6,000 volunteers across the U.S. help to record and process the educational materials, which students rely on to achieve academic and professional success.

i think the name doesn't matter too much, it's the content that's important

I've been working for a while at RFB&D and now Learning Ally, and I have to say it is a pleasure to have a new name that our growing population of young members and their parents really like. The old name was fine but kind of boxed us in. It's really interesting to see everyone's reactions positive and otherwise. No matter where they stand, I hope everyone is united around helping this organization grow to serve more people in more ways going forward.

I received the email this morning announcing the name change. When I first saw it, I thought, "Ugh...here we go again...another company 'rebranding' itself." I have seen a lot of companies do this for no apparent reason. Skeptical, I clicked the link in the email to the web page explaining the change. I immediately understood and now feel fully supportive of the change. It makes perfect sense. I respect and appreciate the research and introspection that the company leaders must have gone through getting to this point. And the new site looks great...kudos to all on a plan well executed.

I liked the old name better. 60 years of history. Just gotta get used to it I suppose....
As long as the services don't change I think I can live with it. The colors are throwing me off more than anything.
