I just realized.... Watch the action when it fires. It's not fully ejecting the casing because the spring is too stiff. Put a slightly lighter spring in it to allow the bolt to fully retract and it should work without smashing the brass every time.

Awesome! I used to have a 1999 TJ and now I want an M38A1. What's the highest speed you can drive in those comfortably? My TJ could go over 80 but I only would drive 60mph on highways. Any faster seemed like I was pushing it way to hard. If an M38A1 can comfortably go 55-ish I'd be fine with that.
