Official YouTube channel of Laz Rojas -- actor, screenwriter, filmmaker, artist, cartoonist, computer game modder, human chameleon, master of disguise, one-man movie studio.
Scenes from my one-man showcase, a production written, performed, directed, produced, and edited entirely by me, and in which I play all of the characters.
Scenes from my one-man showcase, a production written, performed, directed, produced, and edited entirely by me, and in which I play all of the characters.
About Me:
Q: Are you the same guy who makes stuff for computer games like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Elite Force?
A: Yes, that's me.
Q: How long did it take you to put all this together?
A: It took six months to make 52 scenes, in which I played a total of 102 different characters. All scenes were shot and edited on VHS videotape without using any digital equipment.
Q: This project must have been a big undertaking for just one person. Did you really do everything by yourself?
A: Yes. I handled every aspect of the production -- writing, acting, shooting, directing, editing, lighting, make-up, costumes, sound mixing, etc. I literally functioned as a one-man movie studio. And all with a budget of less than $500.
Q: You appear as women in some of your videos. Are you gay?
A: No, I'm 100% straight. Always have been, always will be.
Q: If you're not gay, why do you play women?
A: My showcase is a one-man show, so naturally I portray all of the characters, both male and female. From a 10 year old boy to a black rapper to an exotic dancer to a 60 year old businessman, I play everyone in these scenes regardless of who or what they are.

***Since I've grown quite weary of having to answer the question or deal with snide remarks or fend off unwanted advances, let me make this an official disclaimer: No, I am NOT gay. I'm not even bi. When I say I'm 100% heterosexual, I mean 100%. So please don't waste my time with messages saying, "You MUST be gay" or some variation thereof. If you can't conceive that a straight guy can possibly play a woman, you're seeing it right here with your own eyes. And if you're a male, please don't approach me with any come-ons or requests for dates. I am not transgender, I am not a drag queen, I am an ACTOR who can play anyone, male or female. If anyone wishes to compliment me on my acting skills and my ability to transform myself into all kinds of characters, go right ahead; but don't read anything more into my female characters than an actor playing a role. I am interested in women only and exclusively, and I hope this sets the record straight once and for all (pun intended). ***

"Impressive. Shades of Orson Welles!"
-- Jelly Helm, Executive Creative Director, Wieden+Kennedy ad agency
"The highlight of the event had to be watching the Laz Rojas clips up on a big screen, in the context of art rather than in the context of silly Youtube craziness. He really did create something wholly unique and uniquely strange in a way that a more deliberate or deliberately ironic artist never would have."

"This man is the Cindy Sherman of self-made video."
