Largely self-taught, Rolando's professional career started in 1974 and took off in the 1980's when he was a member of Bobby Rodriguez y La Compañia. Since then he has performed with
Notables, Pete El Conde Rodriguez, La Sonora Matancera, Hector Lavoe Orq. Frankie Dante y La Flanboyan,
Celia Cruz, Jose Alberto El Canario,Ruben Blades, Eddie Palmieri, Luis Perico Ortiz
Frankie Ruiz, Johnny Rivera, Junior Gonzalez, Van Lester, Johnny Pacheco,
Nestor Sanchez, Miguel Quintana, Rey Reyes, Santiago Ceron, Frankie Negron,Rafu Wagner, Cano Estremera, Hector Tricoche, Orq. Broadway, Charanga America, Siglo XX, Alfredo De La Fe, Jose Mangual Jr. Jimmy Bosch, McCoy Tyner, Latin Affair.
Has also toured more than a year with salsa sensation Marc Anthony.

In the 1980's Rolando recorded with Bobby Rodriguez y La Compañia,
R&B Artist's Bobby Brown, Colonel Abrams, in the 1990's he recorded with
Luis Perico Ortiz, Cheo Feliciano, Chrissy I-Eece. Rob Rose from the west coast.
2001 he recorded the CD Son 80's live in S.O.B's with singers Adalberto Santiago, Hector Casanova, Santiago Ceron and Rey Reyes.2009 recorded Rumbeando en el Solar with a Latin Affair.
2005, Rolando had formed Son Del Ayer, a sound that will take you back in time and bring back memories of the way salsa music was played in the 60's 70's.
Arrangements are written by living legend Mr. Louie Cruz who has helped Rolando
Bring back an era that will make you want to dance or just listen. If you didn't experience This latin thing in the past, then you need to experience the present. Son Del Ayer,for your dancing and listening pleasure. Rolando is also currently working with the following groups, Charanga America, Siglo 20, Grupo Salsa Caliente, Bronx charanga,
and with various DJ entertainment companies.
