This was Skeeter's first top 10 hit as a solo artist, getting to #5 in 1959. It's also just Skeeter, she sings her own harmony. This is speeded up a bit from the way the 45 actually played. The flip side, "The Devil's Doll", written by Cindy Walker is my very favorite recording Skeeter ever made....

Dwight Yoakam - Walking After Midnight
It's been over 50 years since Patsy Cline made this song famous. Since then, many artists have covered this song. I love Dwight Yoakam's version.

I dislike it because I can't understand him. What is it? British accent? I tried slowing it down and stopping it at times but I still couldn't understand what he's talking about. An educational video needs to be longer than 49 seconds.

This is a good version but not the first. This is on FRAN 6442 in 1965. Faile recorded it first for Choice 6104 in 1960. Choice 6504 came from that same session. He did it for Starday SLP 241 in 1963, for Dot 16887 in 1966, for Peach PCH 1000 in 1972, for CMH 6211 in 1976, a version in 1977 that ...

Thanks Pasi for posting this. This is the original version of a song that was a hit twice in 1959 (this version) and again in 1961 by James O'Gwynn. This is a very rare recording by the song's composer. So glad that you made it available.

Pretty nice video of Skeeter. You must have gotten the lyrics from what you thought she sang. But it's "ferris wheels" not fairy squeels, and it's "illusions" not cloud delusion. She recorded it in 1969 so this must be from later because she's already playing around with the melody. Still anythin...

This is a beautiful song. Christopher Hitchens would be proud. I've always thought the most seductive thing about religion is the gorgeous music written to celebrate god. I love finding an equally pretty song telling the truth about him/her/it.

Pretty horrible sound, but anything by Kitty Wells is still worth a listen. The title is "Lonely Side Of Town" and her Decca hit single got to #7 in 1955. She's still the Queen Of Country Music to me.
