A "Hard Hand" isn't called a "Hard Hand" becuase it's hard to hit. It is hard because it has reached a total with nother possible total. A "Soft Hand" is a had with an Ace in it that could have two totals. A Hard 17 would be a face or 10 card with a 7 card. A soft 7/17 would be an Ace with a 6 card.
