Among Mr. Lafia's many credits as a writer\director is his first film, "The Blue Iguana." Starring Dylan McDermott and produced for Paramount Pictures, "The Blue Iguana" was given a prestigious screening at the Cannes film festival where it was an "Official Selection Out of Competition." While prepping "The Blue Iguana" John co-wrote "Childsplay," the long running horror franchise starring "Chucky" the killer doll. The film debuted at number one and John was asked to sign on to direct its sequel. "Childsplay 2" was a box office smash, debuting at number one, and launching a string of sequels. After this, John wrote and directed "Man's Best Friend" starring Lance Henriksen which was voted the "Special Jury Prize" at the Fantastica film festival by directors Walter Hill and Terry Gilliam. Following a series of successful TV films and TV episodes, John scored his biggest success with "10.5" a four hour mini-series for NBC. The groundbreaking mini-series broke records drawing over 20 million viewers for two nights running. "10.5" was followed by the special effects extravaganza, "10.5 Apocalypse" which was nominated for a Saturn Award. John followed this with "Firestorm: Last Stand at Yellowstone" staring Scott Foley which aired on A&E. John has a long history working with new media dating back to the 1990's when he directed several live action video games and the world's only interactive feature. Recently John has established his own digital studio to create original content for digital distribution. John is a member of the DGA and the DGC and has dual American and Canadian citizenship.
