About this user
I have played music of some kind most of my life, and like many people who play folk music I started singing in church. Caught up in the great folk scare of the 60s I was influenced by groups like the Kingston Trio, and upon finding Bob Dylan's early recordings I began to learn backward and discovering roots music I had never heard before.
As a songwriter I have been influenced by writers like Pete, Woody and Cisco, Utah Phillips, Hank Williams, Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, Eric Anderson, John Prine, Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Jackson Browne, and more recently Greg Brown, Iris Dement, Caroline Herring, and many many more. In this decade, I have release three self-produced CDs. You can find these at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/laddieraymelvin . I have played in the Pacific Northwest since the late 60s, and now that I live in Spokane, WA I play locally and regionally on a fairly regular basis.
I am a participant in the Spokane Songwriters organization, and host the first Thursday, Brick and Mortar Concert series, that features local and regional writers. Please see http://www.spokanesongwriters.org
Please support your local music scene, and help keep music live.
