The movie is actually about the other Alien that is found dead piloting the ship of the original movie and not actually about the "aliens" that we know. The aliens will be loosly tied in at some point but this takes place before they come about.

@rambohunt1 I reccomend you watch some Great Dane videos on youtube.. there are a ton. You won't notice much drool.. unless they just drank as I mentioned or were exercising extensivly.
