This is also explained in the NidoMS FAQ, and if you download the latest client it won't edit your hosts file anymore. All you have to do then to play Global is disabling Microsoft Loopbackadapter.

This video is outdated. NidoMS is a v0.83 server now that is currently upgrading to v0.89. Features like vote points no longer exists, it's a more Global like server now.
