Isadora Duncan: Drawings and Watercolors by Abraham Walkowitz (1878-1965).
Music by George Winston.
Info: Abraham Walkowitz was one of America's first modernist artists. After meeting Isadora Duncan at Auguste Rodin's studio in Paris in 1906 and watching her perform the next night at a salon, Walkowitz became enamored with her style - a style representative of all that he felt was important in art - expression, freedom, movement, etc. It is estimated that Walkowitz produced over 5,000 images of Duncan. Some say that because Duncan did not allow film footage to be taken of her, Walkowitz's small drawings best express her unique, expressive dance style. I hope that this small montage of Walkowitz's drawings and watercolors (my first YouTube video, using Windows Movie Maker)can pay tribute to both Isadora Duncan and the sadly underappreciated Abraham Walkowitz.
