Kwestro is a HipHop music producer based in Austin, Texas that has expanded his musical palette over the years to include Electronic and Ambient genres.
Dating back to 2002 in Houston, Texas, Kwestro began slowly delving into HipHop music production as a hobby and making little mixtapes for his sister. She didn't like them. There was a time that year when Kwestro felt somewhat confident and played his music to co-workers in the parking lot. They laughed and said it was garbage. Feelings crushed, and coming to the realization that his music wasn't as good as he thought it was, Kwestro went back to his home studio and reinvented his music style. Sometime in 2005, Kwestro's resolve had hardened. Fully confident after extensive research, and excessive practice, Kwestro found himself collaborating and working with many of Houston's prominent Underground HipHop emcees. Under the moniker of Qenetic Storm, Kwestro had worked with underground artists such as, Nosaprise, Lower Life Form, Crew54, Fat Tony, and Big Shang. Originally, a raw authentic Boom Bap HipHop artist, Kwestro began listening to a lot of Shoegaze, Post-Rock, Electronic, and Ambient music around mid 2009. Early 2010, Kwestro moved to Austin, Texas to open more opportunities for his career in music, develope himself more as a live performing artist.
Kwestro's multifarious music catalog is unique in its delivery: Lifelike melodies harmoniously billowing through rhythmic landscapes like a voluminous ocean of clouds drifting deeply into the horizon. Seismic kicks, crackling snares, and tremorous bass lines carry the core of one's soul into deep chasms of rhythm, while multi-layered sounds and samples float freely like neutrinos emanating from the sun. At times, his music is frenetically beat-driven with syncopated sounds, blips of effects, technical showcasing, and melodramatic sound selections immersing the listener into a deep trance-like state of euphoria. Other times, Kwestro's music slowly seeps into the mind and soul of the listener with a lushful warmth like the slackness of a breeze after a violent thunderstorm. His music conveys a soul searching for happiness, peace, love, and understanding, while adversity sets it astray.
Pushing the boundaries of HipHop, Kwestro continually defies the predicatability of simple loops by incorporarting the influence of Electronic and Ambient music to create dynamically cinematic masterpieces. Kwestro is a formidable force to be dealt with, quelling all doubtful hopes of HipHop after every performance.
Amongst other projects, Kwestro is working on his debut album currently codenamed, "A. D."
