  I may not be French but I AM a native French speaker. I am a French speaking Belgian. And by the way I teach French here in the States. You on the other hand must not be a native French speaker because if you were you would never say, "j'ai visité ma grand-mère."

  No, you should never say "visiter quelqu'un". Maybe 150 years ago but not anymore.

  The only exceptions are: visiter un prisonnier, un mourant, un moine ou une sœur.
